This trek takes you through the stunning landscapes of the Central High Atlas. Starting from the springs of Arbaa Tighadouin, you’ll pass through authentic Berber villages like Talatast and Ait Ali, nestled in the foothills. The Yagour Plateau, sitting at over 2,000 meters, offers breathtaking panoramic views and is home to ancient rock carvings that reflect prehistoric life. The journey continues to the peaceful village of Tizi Oucheg, surrounded by pastures and oak forests, before descending into the lush Ourika Valley, known for its terraced farms, waterfalls, and serene atmosphere. Morning: Pick-up from your hotel in Marrakech and transfer by private vehicle to the springs of Arbaa Tighadouin (approx. 1h30 drive).
Meet the mule team, load the gear, and begin your trek.
Route: Hike through the charming village of Talatast, known for its poetic ambiance and traditional Berber architecture.
Ascent to the hamlet of Ait Ali, nestled at the foot of the Yagour plateau.
Dinner and overnight at a local house or camp near Ait Ali.
Walking time: 4–5 hours
Altitude gain: Approx. 1800m
Morning: Depart after breakfast and begin your hike across the Yagour Plateau, a high, open landscape famous for its prehistoric rock carvings (gravures rupestres).
Stop to explore the carvings and enjoy a picnic lunch on the plateau.
Afternoon: Continue the descent towards the Berber village of Tizi (1660m).
Dinner and overnight in a family guesthouse or camp.
Walking time: 6–7 hours
Highlights: Panoramic views, ancient carvings, highland pastures.
Morning: Descend gradually through forests and terraced fields into the lush Ourika Valley.
Meet your driver in the valley, typically around the village Tazitount or nearby.
Transfer back to Marrakech and drop-off at your hotel.
